Minister Oda Announces Federal Support for Local Durham Businesses

Bowmanville, Ont. – The Honourable Bev Oda, Minister of International Cooperation and MP for Durham, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), today announced federal support for four local Durham businesses, Nessis Inc., Jeffrey Ross Jewellery Ltd., Nortek Solutions Inc. and Oasys Healthcare Corp., through the National Research Council Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program.

The Program supports innovative approaches to help businesses accelerate their adoption of new technologies.

“I am pleased that our Government is investing in science and technologies that will help strengthen local businesses in Durham,” said Minister Oda. ”This support to four local companies shows the range of innovative and growing businesses we have here in Durham.”

Nessis Inc., located in Hampton, is receiving $45,350 to support its work in computer and software distribution business.

Jeffrey Ross Jewellery Ltd., located in Uxbridge, will receive $35,750 to support an innovated process of silver jewellery design and manufacturing.

Nortek Solutions Inc., located in Uxbridge, will receive $30,000 to support a research and development project for its software publishing business.

Oasys Healthcare Corp., located in Uxbridge, will receive $13,000 to support adoption of new technology in its medical equipment and supplies manufacturing enterprise.
